Restaurant types

Definitions
SIC5812 Eating Places
"Establishments primarily engaged in the retail sale of prepared food and drinks for on-premise or immediate consumption."

This category includes such sub-categories as fast food establishments, family style and fine dining restaurants and franchise restaurants.

Fast food restaurants are those restaurants that typically do not offer table service.

Family style restaurants offer food service that may or may not have incidental sales of beer, wine, or liquor. The beer, wine, or liquor sales must be in conjunction with meal service. Restaurants that have a bar area where customers wait before being seated in the restaurant are acceptable.

Fine dining restaurants serve lunch and dinner and usually offer extensive wine lists or serve high value wines or liquor. They may offer valet services.
